The Creative Brain Behind the Work
Hi, I’m Nicole — the creative brain (and sometimes corny joke-maker) behind Nicole Boterman Creative.
I’ve been designing things since the day my dad, a printer, brought home stacks of paper and gifted me Print Shop Deluxe. I’d spend hours making greeting cards, fake business logos, and flyers for imaginary companies — and somewhere in there, I never stopped. For me, creative work isn’t just a skill, it’s part of my wiring.
Today, I work with small businesses, women-led brands, and thoughtful clients who want design and marketing that actually makes sense — clean, clear, and grounded in strategy. I’ve spent over two decades wearing every hat in the creative world: art direction, brand strategy, design, copy editing, email automation, print production — you name it. And yes, I still geek out over fonts. (Like, deeply.)
People often tell me they feel relieved after we start working together — because I make the process feel easy, collaborative, and un-intimidating. I move fast, hit deadlines, and help you clarify what matters so you’re not buried in options or jargon. My goal is to take the creative work off your plate and make it feel like an extension of your voice — not another chore on your to-do list.
When I’m not designing, you’ll probably find me on my patio with a cocktail in hand, surrounded by tropical plants and friends, and my long-haired Chihuahua, Franklin, making sure he’s the center of attention. I’m passionate, loyal, a little goofy, and endlessly curious — especially about how great design can help people tell better stories.
MY FAVES
Franklin Danger
My long-haired Chihuahua, constant companion, and official mascot of good vibes. He wears bow ties, Hawaiian shirts, and has no shortage of opinions.
Beverages
I’m beverage-obsessed. Morning crafted press, afternoon grapefruit bubble tea, evening French 75s… I am always sipping something fun.
Tropical Plants & Patio Living
My backyard is my sanctuary: fountains, palm trees, and sunshine. It’s been described as “spa-like.”
Trees
All of them. I’m mesmerized by the shapes, textures, and seasonal drama of trees. I think they’re perfect.
The North Shore
Lake Superior has my heart. Its waves calm my mind.
